2009 - Year in Review

I can tell by the way the boys are bouncing off the walls and that Mark is constantly singing, 'I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.....' that we only have a few more days until the Joly Holiday! Not sure what happened this year.....it just snuck up on me. (That is just code for I'm NOT ready!) I'm looking forward to being in our own home Christmas morning with the company of Mom & Dad. The boys will then get to play in their own house with the new toys and I don't have to worry about them wrecking anyone Else's house.
2009 flew by for us...so much so, I can't remember what we did for the first few months! We took full advantage of our trailer this year and camped every available weekend. We had great company with our friends the Thorpe's, trying out new campgrounds with-in our area. We took part in a week at Dickey Lake with the Terrill clan and we also met my family in the Crowsnest pass for the long weekend in August. The boys had a great time in all places riding bikes, swimming and just being boys. I think we are all looking forward to getting out again next year.
Mark had a job switch not to long ago. He is still delivery freight for Byers Transport, just under the company of Canadian Freightways. The first few weeks were pretty tough on him but things have now seemed to settle down and work out okay. He brought home last week his new 'uniform'........he now wears a shirt with his name on it!! Made me chuckle.
The boys are doing great. Logan started Grade 2 and Carter started Kindergarten!! I have to say I was soooo excited mid August to have them both get back to school, I was singing along with the Staples commercial, 'It's the most Wonderful time of the Year!' And then after a few weeks of silence in the house......I did something crazy!! I decided we needed a dog. I got word of puppies being at the the SPCA, so we just went to 'take a look'. After a family meeting and some comments from other family members telling us we were nuts, we brought a puppy home! The first few weeks were worse than having a new baby in the house, but now I think Kia has become just another member of the family. We even have her trained to ring a bell at the back door when she wants to go outside!
The kids have been doing great in school. Logan has really excelled in Math and Reading this year. He just received an award for Exemplary Student for the month of December. Carter has really enjoyed his first few months of school. He picks up on everything! I think he would have to be the most enthusiastic Kindergartner out there. We just may have a couple of genius' on our hands!
As for me, I have started working more since both boys are in school. I still work a couple days a week at the Ridge Spine & Sport Centre, as well as a few days out of the house. Still massaging and getting busier with BodyTalk. A few weeks ago, I even did more BodyTalk Sessions than Massages! I have had clients get great results with it and it has kept the four of use relatively healthy through the wonderful H1N1 scare and flu season. In the New Year I hope to do some upgrading with the BodyTalk and then write the exam to become an Advanced Practitioner.
This year, I couldn't hold him back anymore, Logan started playing Hockey. In a few short months he really has progressed in his skating. According to him, just this morning, he has scored 12 goals in his 'career' of playing hockey. (This includes practises and games.) :o) Mark has been going out on the ice with the kids and is really enjoying it. Logan loves to have his Daddy out there with him too! As for me.....I just may have become the typical hockey Mom. I for some reason can't seem to control my words when the kids are playing. (Shocking isn't it?!?) I have already been warned that when Logan is playing six years from now, he just may be asking me to stay home so I don't embarrass him. All in all, we are enjoying it....even the dreaded early 7:00am games.
We are hoping to head up to Calgary for New Year's to meet the newest member of the family. Keri & Nick had baby #2 (Maguire Leonard Alexander Blakeney) a couple weeks ago and it is killing me to not have seen him yet. So as long as the weather holds and everyone is healthy, that will be our trip for the holiday.
We hope you all have a great Holiday and are able to spend it with the ones you love the most!

Spooktacular!!

Happy Halloween!!
The boys had a great night.
Sooooo glad we enforced a nap or else there would have been no trick-or-treating......they were bouncing off the walls.

Here are the dudes all dressed up!

INDIANA JONES

HAUNTED SKELETON
????

Check out the loot!

'Look what I got!!'

'Just look at me!!'

Mark & I put on the essentials out of the tickle trunk.
The boys told me I was a Rock Star and Daddy was a Daddy in a Hat!!

Halloween's over for another year!!

First things first.....
.....Here are some pictures of the boys to please the Grandparents and Auntie Keri....
......they look the same to me!!! ;o)

The boys had a spirit day at school on Friday. The theme was wacky hair and clothes day. They both wore their shirts inside out and backwards and then we did this to their hair........

Carter's looks like a patch of grass and Logan looks like he got up too early....or he had been smoking some sort of grass!! (Just kidding. Ha!)
After hockey on Saturday, Mark was going to go to work to drive with a guy who is wanting to get his class one. About 10 minutes after he left I get a phone call from Mark......I knew things weren't going to be good when he starts the conversation off with,
'Ahhhh, is our AMA up to date?'
On his way, some hose blew off the transmission and pretty much didn't let the truck go anymore. I did just re-new my AMA membership but cancelled Mark's. This just meant I had to 'be' with the truck so the towing would be free.

I used this opportunity to grab some 'blog material' by taking some pictures.

The boys found it pretty entertaining........Mark did not.
Sunday morning brought another hockey game. Logan scored another goal!! While sitting in the stands, I just happened to look down and this is what I saw....
Not sure why everything that is little is cute!!

Speaking of cute.......back to last Friday at school.......in the afternoon of these Spirit days, the school has an assembly. They have a bunch of 'stuff' to do with the kids and one thing that Carter always talks about is 'Rosco' the school mascot. The class that has the most participation dressing up in the theme, gets to have Rosco for the month. Well, Carter's class had 100% participation and won Rosco!! Carter was soooo excited. His teacher even called upon him to go and get Rosco from the Principal.......in front of all the kids in the school!! She said that he was a bit hesitant at first, but once he had Rosco all was good.
So, I had to bring my camera to school and take Carter's picture with Rosco.
Pretty sure this little boy is the happiest Kindergartner out there!!

Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving came to Medicine Hat!
We had a good visit with Mom & Dad and Grandma & Grandpa.
Weekend activities included watching Logan play Hockey (He
scored his first goal!!), lots of shopping, card playing and a whole lot of food!
We had our turkey dinner on Saturday, just so we could have left overs on Sunday. (They are the best part!)
Here we are making a toast and having the boys tell us what we are thankful for.
Grandma brought the boys some special wine (just for Kids......Auntie could have had some too!) so they enjoyed drinking from wine glasses.

Our special centrepiece was courtesy of Carter and Mark/Dad (not sure who's idea the flowers were for sure?!?). Carter made the turkey in school and was really proud of it......and got really upset with Grandpa when he ate some of his feathers!!
We also had a lot of animals running around the house. They were spoiled just as much as the kids. Hemi got his fill of whipping cream and icing from Grandma.
The animals were thankful for each other.
After the family left yesterday, we spent a few hours cleaning the house and then we could just hang out. Ryan and Evan came over for a few hours to play later in the afternoon. I warned Ryan that the last time Evan was over to play he ended up bleeding. Not 10 minutes later, Logan came out of his bedroom crying with blood coming from his mouth!
"Mommy, Carter kicked my tooth out!"
The boys were fooling around in Logan's room and Carter had his foot in the right place at the right time and WHAM! We then were on the hunt for the tooth.
Check out the hole in the kids face now!!
Thanks for the fun weekend Ma & Pa, Grandma & Grandpa!
I'm very thankful for family, all our great friends, my three wonderful boys and life itself.
CHEERS!

Catch Up - With Pictures!!

I've realized that I need to put these pictures up before the year is over!!
(Where did September go?!?)
We replaced the infamous 'Barney Van' at the end of August. It was a great van and didn't owe us a thing. But it was just getting old and I was itching for something newer.
We now have a Kia Rondo. When we have the entire family in the car, the boys take turns yelling, 'IIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!'
Carter has really enjoyed Kindergarten. He comes home singing new songs and talks about everything that he has learnt.
The first field trip of the year for the little dudes was to a vegetable farm. They got to pick apples, raspberry's, strawberry's, cucumbers, carrots and corn on the cob.
(Of course he ate none of it!! Oh, that's a lie, he had his corn and I made some muffins with the raspberries and he ate a couple of those.)

With both boys in school, I have really wanted to start promoting BodyTalk. I recently did a Ladies Night Out - Fashion Show at the Medicine Hat Lodge.
This is what it looked like!

With having a new puppy, the boys needed to build her a house! Here are my cute little builders with their tools.

I couldn't resist taking this one.......really needs to have a caption above it saying. 'I think my couch would look good over in that corner and my bed over there......'.
I am officially a Hockey Mom!! Logan's first weekend went really well. The only problem he had is that his mouth guard was bothering him because of an extremely loose front tooth!
I couldn't resist playing a bit.......Logan's reaction time is still a bit slow. Notice where he is and then where the puck is! Almost had it!

Here is Kia trying out her new house. She is terrified of it, but posed for a picture.
I was the one to plan an activity for my ladies group this month.......and I picked horse back riding. Not sure why......I have a small phobia of the animal......but it really was fun.
(And I never really walked funny for more than one day!)

Introducing.........

KIA TERRILL
Our new addition to the Terrill household.
She is a Heeler/Kelpie X and is roughly 9 1/2 weeks old.
She has made a good friend meeting Hemi and has a fond liking for the outdoors and absolutely hates her leash.
The boys enjoy playing with her but do not like her cry.
Our first night just may be a long one.....she doesn't care much for her kennel.

Will post more once we get to know her a little bit more!

Logan, Logan, Logan

After we got home from school yesterday, Lori called here telling me that Logan's teacher came out and wanted to talk to me. We had already left and she never said he forgot anything.....she just wanted to tell me something.
(Last night Mark and I quizzed Logan about school and how everything was going and if he needed to tell us anything. Not sure why we always think the worst when a teacher wants to talk to us!?!)
So this morning I kinda made myself noticeable and hung around in the hallway to see if Mrs. Gold would approach me. Sure enough I saw her walking down the hall and she was heading directly to me.
She comes over to me and tells me, "You really need to keep an eye on that boy of yours." (I'm thinking, 'OMG, what has the little bugger done now!!') She continues, "He is going to break some hearts.......he is a little heart throb! I asked him yesterday, what was his favorite part of his day, and he replied so innocently and sincerely with, 'Just seeing you Mrs. Gold'." She said he just melted her heart!
My boy is a little flirt!!
Whatever it takes to get those A's.

Yikes! What Have I got Myself Into?!?

We are starting to get geared up around here for (*GULP*) for hockey!!
Logan is totally excited and I've also seen a little glimmer in Mark's eye getting his boy dressed up.
Logan had money from his birthday to still spend, so last week we went out and let him buy the remainders of his equipment. He got a jersey and socks. The boys then had to try everything on when we got home.

Everything but the skates..........he is pretty cute.
This weekend he gets to go out and skate with all the equipment on (also some coaches are going to be there to make sure everything is up to snuff) to get the feel for it before he starts playing the following weekend.

Carter had to get in on some of the action as well.

Here he is.......get this.....wearing his Daddy's helmet!!

Really should have taken a picture of Mark wearing the helmet afterwards..........he looked as though he escaped from the 'special' bus.

So with hockey starting, we are going to be busy every weekend, from now until March?!

Terrill Summer 2009

I was going through a bunch of our photos of our summer and I thought this would be the best way to share it!

First 'Days' of School! (Sept. '09)

WOW! Did summer ever fly by.
I know, I know, my blogging went on summer holidays too.
Oh well, what's a girl to do.
I will try to back track a little now and then and share some photos of our summer.
August seems really early for kids to be going back to school! We're lucky that the boys seem to 'enjoy' it, and don't raise a big stink about going.
Logan had a great first day!
He found out that his good friend Ryan was in the same class. I guess when going in to grade 2, it is just as important to boys as it is for girls, to have your buddy in your class.
Mayhaps I should have had him roll down his socks!?!
Carter had his first full day of Kindergarten today.
There were two moments in the morning that tugged at my heart strings a bit; watching Carter walk into the school with his little strut acting as though he owned the place, and then when Logan came wheeling into Carter's classroom asking him to come and play with him. They also made plans as to where to meet on the playground at recess and lunch so they could play together. Pretty sweet to see them get along that well..............for now!
As I drove past the playground on the way home, I saw the two of them hanging out with some of Logan's friends. With that being said, I hope Carter makes some friends of his own.

My two little dudes!
(Not sure what is up with the hats being worn that way?)

I had to take my camera in. I really should have had my video camera instead.......Carter strutting his stuff was really comical.
Here he is at his cubby where he will put his backpack.
Pleased as can be!
And I never even shed a tear today! I may have had a small lump in my throat............and some dirt in my eyes..............but I never did cry!!
Hopefully tomorrow goes just as well for the little guy!
