Last Day of School!!

Logan had a great year in grade one. I was a bit worried about him being in a 1/2 split class, but it all worked out for the best.
I had to wake him up on Friday morning!
I asked him if he was excited for the last day of school, and he replied with, ' No, because over the summer I will lose 100% of my smartness!'
I assured him that we would continue to work on his math and keep reading books!
For the awards ceremony, the teachers pick out one student in their class that had worked the hardest all year, so therefore get the 'Most Improved' award.
Logan was the recipient for his class!
Talking with Logan afterwards, I asked him if he was proud of himself. He just gave me a big grin! His teacher approached me a few days earlier to let me know that he would be receiving the award and to make sure I could be there. I think Logan was wondering why I had him dress up a little bit for the last day of school! He figured it out later that I already knew.

Carter got to join in with some of the activities the last week and felt like one of the students. It was really hard to get just a picture of Logan with his teacher!

I'm pretty sure he is ready for school next year!

Logan's Field Trip to the Zoo - June 23rd, '09

Logan had another 'big' year end field trip this year.
The school had all the Grade 1's and 2's go to the Calgary Zoo. Seems crazy and a long way to go for a whole lot of 6-8 year olds!
It was a long day and I think I was more tired than Logan at bedtime!
Here are the boys on the bus. They had to, of course, pick the very back of the bus to sit.
Here was the first animal to meet us when we got there.
There were a lot of parent volunteers, so I just had Logan and his friend Kyden to 'take care of' for the day.
Some very cute monkeys .
(Logan included!)

As we came outside to look at the gorilla's, we got to witness some domestic violence. Not sure what was going on, but the big male gorilla had a female by the shoulders, and then smashed her head into the rock wall. Not sure what that was all about.
In this picture you can see the baby gorilla hanging on to it's mothers back leg.
Big meany!
Some cool Lemar that was just hanging out.
Logan and his buddy Ryan.
Logan with his teacher, Mrs. Boodhoo.
For the day, myself and a couple other parents got together and we all hung out for the day. Here is the group of all the kids.
We searched high and low for the Koala bears......and when we finally found them........they didn't move at all!
Flamingo's!
The zoo's monkey's........
.......my monkey!
I had a heck of a time trying to get a decent picture of this creature.
We also had a visitor come see us at the Zoo!
Logan enjoyed seeing his cousin, but he had to remain cool in front of his friends and didn't spend too much time with him. Auntie had a good visit, in between making sure both boys were with in sight!

Here are two of my favorites at the Zoo.

It was a long day! Surprisingly, Logan only slept for 10 minutes. His buddy on the other hand,
slept half the way home!

Going to have to wait and see what they do next year!

Last week Wrap up

We had an eventful week last week!
Carter's final day of preschool, preschool graduation, Mom and Grandma & Grandpa visiting, Mom's birthday, Carter's birthday and Carter's birthday party. We were busy!
We were entertained by 3-5 year olds on Tuesday night at the Preschool Graduation. Hats off to the teachers who have to work with these kids day in and day out. We had many crying, the odd one just sitting and not doing anything, a few singing so loud and fast that you couldn't hear anything else, and the one little girl who sucked on her big toe for the majority of the concert! Gotta love little kids.
Carter entertained us before the concert with his dancing.
I had to hold back a few tears and a huge lump in my throat when these little guys came marching in, to the song 'Forever Young' by Rod Stewart. Have you ever listened to the words? MAN! Very fitting. Pretty sure the tears will not be so easy to contain when the boys graduate high school.
Check out this handsome little dude!
So proud.
These are his teachers he had in the morning classes.
(Not sure who the top two are?)
Here we all are!
Afterwards, we all loaded up into the van again and headed off to the dairy queen for a treat.
Carter had no complaints with this!

The next event was Grandma's birthday.
We took her to a little restaurant downtown called 'Twist' for lunch. Carter entertained us all again and was sure to let the owner know that he didn't like the fish part of his fish and chips!
Once Logan got home from school, the boys couldn't wait to give Grandma her present. After supper, we had birthday cheesecake. Pretty yummy!
Grandma cheats when it comes to blowing out candles!!
We then had Carter's birthday.
He has been wanting a Wall-E birthday cake for over 6 months.....and finally the waiting was over! I was sure he would change his mind and want something else......

I had left over cake and icing, so there were Wall-E cupcakes too!
Out of the blue, I got a good shot of the boys together..........strange how presents brings you closer together!
Do you think he liked this present?
We had his party with his friends on Saturday. I had a bit of a melt down when the dude with the blow-up castle jumper never showed up!! We were fortunate that Carter didn't know that it was going to be here. All the kids were good at entertaining themselves and they had fun regardless.
Here they all are!
It was a busy week and after the party, the boys showered up and relaxed!
They totally get that from their father!!

One more crazy week ahead for Logan, with year end field trips and then our summer will begin!

June 19th, 2009

This is a BIG date in our house.
10 years ago today, Mark and I got married!
Hard to believe that time really does go by that fast.
And then the other reason, is that this little guy has a birthday!
HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY TOOTER!!
I did have some fun looking back at some pictures. Both boys had such chubby little cheeks and faces........put a big smile on my face.
Carter is having his party in the morning. Stay tuned to see pictures.

Chuckwagons - 2009

We just spent the past weekend at the Stampede grounds visiting and watching the Chuckwagon races. It was good to see everyone again, and the weather FINALLY cooperated here in the Hat for the drivers and their teams. For the first time in the 7 years that we have gone to watch, there was dust on the track.
We saw the regulars there!
Skippy the Squirrel came up to the boys and shook their hands. The second night he had a water gun and was spraying everyone. Carter was pretty nervous when he came around.
I took these next pictures for Father Bill.
I thought I would take a picture of each race to show you the team that Codey hooked up.
Night #1 - time of 105.51
Night #2 - time of 103.36 + 5sec penalty = 108.36
(He ran over a barrel but otherwise he won the race!)

Day #3 - time of 105.01

Friday night after the races we went back to the barns. Carter was a bit upset that Codey lost his race. He and Codey had a little chat and the next thing I knew, Codey took Carter for a little walk and gave him two new autographed posters. Carter was in his glory!
Then, to top off his night, Codey took Carter by the hand and went for another walk and came back over to us like this......

Mark overheard a comment that Carter made while riding the horse.
He said, "This is way better than my cat!"
By this point he was totally hamming it up. We all got a pretty good chuckle out of it.
He was hanging on so tight to the horse's mane, that when he let go, the little bunch of hair was standing straight up!
(It would have had nothing to do with his sticky fingers from cotton candy!)

Carter then wanted to take a picture of Codey himself.
This is what he got!
I then wanted to get one of the two of them.
He was definitely Codey's number one fan for the weekend!
Mark printed this picture off and we had Carter autograph it and he gave it to Codey after the races this afternoon. Codey was going to hang it up in the tack room. (I just asked Mark what that was.....it is where all the harnesses hang, etc.) It was going to go on tour with them anyhow.
Medicine Hat is only stop number two for them, so they still have a busy summer ahead. The idea is to run fast and penalty free and hopefully make it into the Calgary Stampede next year.
Codey ended up 16th over all.
(This could still change because of an inquiry on the final race as to the winner getting more penalty's.)

Logan's Agenda

I was looking through Logan's binder the other day and looked back in his agenda. I remember him talking about his friend Chloe, having to go to Calgary for an ultrasound. (She had a kidney removed due to cancer.) He sits beside her in class and when he forgot his lunch bag at school the other day, she was bringing it home to him. (She lives just around the corner from us.) She is a very cute little girl........is it wrong of me think 10 years ahead and say that they would be cute together?!?
Anyways, this is what I saw written in his book.........
.............how sweet!
He gets all shy and quiet around her when I'm around. Carter, being the typical little brother bugs him too! "Oooooooh, Logan's kissing Chloe!!" You bet, the teasing starts already.

T-ball Pics

On Monday night one of Carter's coaches took some pictures of the little guys.
Very cute little bugger.

Carter is loving ball! He has been calling Sean, (his coach) Uncle Sean! No matter how many times we tell him, 'He is not you Uncle!' he keeps doing it.
Only a couple more weeks left and the season is already over.
