Drumheller Field Trip

Things have changed! I think the best field trip I went on in Kindergarten was to the fire hall.....maybe the Dairy Queen! Logan got to go to the Tyrrell Museum. It was a long day for the little guy. Just before we left Drumheller he asked he if he had ball or not when we got home. He was really tired and didn't think that he could play.
I had never been to the museum myself so I thought it was pretty exciting. Would like to go back with just our kids or maybe even alone?!? There is a lot to read. If you haven't gone in a while it is worth the trip. I heard they just did a $500 000 upgrade to the place. I can believe it.
The little turkeys had enough money in their kindergarten fund to rent a coach bus for the drive up there. Complete with bathroom, tv's with DVD players and really comfy seats. Myself and another mom drove up. I think the ride on the bus with all those kids may have been a little much. Not sure how those teachers do that every day. I took a bunch of pictures.......here are a few. Getting them uploaded was a chore so they aren't in the proper order.

This room was fun! The kids were able to take foam balls and shoot them out of tubes. They would go into the air, off the wall, into the flowers and at anyone you aimed the tube at. Logan was quick to aim it at me. The war was on after that, my rapid fire with just my arm was quicker than any tube!
This is the big guy that greets you around the first corner.
This is the 'bus' the kids got to ride on.
They broke the kids up into two groups and they had a little presentation. Here they got to touch a fossil of some small flying dinosaur.
Check out the look on Logan's face.....goofy kid.
This is the leg of a T-Rex. Logan looks pretty tiny next to it!
During the presentation the boys got to make their own dinosaur. This is the final outcome for the boys. (Logan and his friend Ryan)

Hard at work building!
This guy was my favorite.....a three horn! (Not sure how to spell the right word, so instead of trying and embarrassing myself I'll just avoid it.)

Logan got to hold a very special fossil.......you can't see it all that well..........it is a pile of dinosaur poop! The boys were tired and Ryan wasn't feeling all that well so they decided to drive home with us in the van. We put our DVD player on and they just hung out until Logan fell asleep just before Brooks.
I was fascinated with these large dinosaurs outside of the tourist information centre. On the way home I had to stop to get a picture. Logan and Ryan are under his belly.
This guy is triple the size of the first one. Check out how small the fifth wheel looks beside it.
Before everyone got back on the bus we got a group photo of all the munchkins. I counted 43.
Wow the order is really bad! We are back inside.......here is the big T-Rex. (You got it....don't know how to spell that one either!)

More Soccer!

Carter is really loving his soccer! Last week he couldn't play because they were rained out. Didn't go over well with him. This week he went out with great guns.

This picture cracks me up. He's staring down the ball........,'Okay ball, work with me here!'
This would be his team! They had pictures this week as well.

The Cooperator Crocodiles.

The little red head beside him is soooo adorable.

They started doing some different drills today. It just may of paid off....Carter scored his first goal this week!

The coach was standing like this.....guess who had to do it as well. :o)

Too cute!

New Family Pet!

It's not what you think! We never went out and got a new cat.....give me time! :o)
Carter and I went out before lunch and mowed the lawn. On our way to the shed I saw something move in the grass. When I took a better look I saw a baby bunny! I chased it around to the side of the shed trying to show Carter. He finally saw it and then it went under the shed. For the rest of the afternoon I have seen him munching on the grass. Cute little thing! Haven't seen the mom or any other babies. Check him out.........
Carter named him 'Bunny Friend.' I need to put out some lettuce and carrots. Maybe he'll eat them better than the boys.

Logan's Ball

Tuesday after we got back from Creston Logan had ball. I gave Mark a break from going and I took him. I didn't mind, I got to take some pictures!!
Here is the entire team. Sitting ducks. Logan is the one with his hand up on the fence. (Fourth from the left.)
Little dude with his glove on his head trying to impress the girls.
Trying to hit a home run! Great action shot.
Who wouldn't want to watch this?!?
Check out the stance! Logan is playing short stop. His coach (Sean Bourassa, the chiro I work with, in the light blue shirt) showed him the 'ready position'. This way he is closer to the ground to draw pictures in the dirt.
Stay tuned for more action from Red Sock # 16.

Nana & Papa's Farm

The boys always love going down to the farm when in Creston. Little city slickers trying to be little farm boys. They do quite well! Only one small mishap.....Logan was driving the Nana mobile (golf cart) and took a sharp left turn and ran into the deck of the farm house and pushed it a little. This is what we were told by Nana, Papa told us later the the structural integrity was compromised! He had to put new supports under it. (oops!)

Half of this big guy is going in our freezer! Got Beef?
It is hard to tell sometimes who has more fun at the farm. :o)

I love these little guys! Who knew cows could be cute?!?
This is Papa's new puppy Buck. He is definitely a puppy.....just ask Nana.

Blossom Festival Fun

The long weekend in May brings the Blossom Festival in Creston. Saturday morning Grandma wanted to take the boys to the parade. Here they are grabbing as much candy as they can. Logan held his own, Carter had a little help from his friend Susie. She even walked out in front of a large tow truck to grab candy!
After the parade we went to Grandma & Grandpa Spagis's house for the annual post parade lunch. Susie and Grandma then took the boys to the high school gym were they had some 'kidapoluza'. They got to get their faces painted, make sunglasses/hats and puppets. They had fun! Logan looks like a mini Elton John with his duds on.
Carter wanted Batman. Boy did he get it! I had a heck of a time washing it off.
This was after the first wash........
And this is after the second wash! It didn't come off until bath time when I had to apply a lot of soap.....and some how keep it out of his eyes.
Still more to come!

I have some catching up to do! We had a good long weekend in the thriving metropolis of Creston. The weather was hot and it was good to see everyone. We did miss out on getting yard work done around here........now it hasn't stopped raining since we got home! Time to go back to Creston.

Here are our happy little travellers. They do pretty good. My new camera allows me to draw on the pictures. Next time the halo might have to be around their necks!
We also got to see a bit of excitement on the trip, a train derailed right at the B.C./Alta border.
I got this picture driving by....not too bad!
Logan and Carter really like seeing the mountains. Carter yelled out when he saw this on the top of the mountain.......,' That one has a flag on it!' It is just tower of some sort.
There are more pictures to come!

Couple shots

By popular demand here are a couple pics of Carter playing soccer. Logan didn't give me any photo opps. Still trying to figure out the new camera. Do the pictures look too 'bright'? Not sure how to change that.

He now has to stand with his hands on his hips. Must be the athlete in him.

Doing some drills

The kids take turns on the field (shifts) and when they aren't playing the coach asks that they sit on this colorful blanket. Carter is the only one that sits there waiting patiently to go back out. I couldn't zoom in anymore, the seriousness on his face is priceless.
This is our first glimpse of spring around here. A marigold that Logan got from his field trip to a green house. Really needs to be planted in a bigger pot. Maybe next weekend.

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Wow Wednesday already! I don't know where the time is going. We had a pretty good weekend. Mark was supposed to be in a first aid course but his company cancelled on them on Friday afternoon, so he had the weekend free. The weather didn't cooperate with us though. The poor boys were running around like monkeys wanting to get out but it was pouring 80% of the time. They did manage to get out Sunday a bit to mow the lawn.
As for mothers day I was spoiled from my boys.....all three! As you saw before, I got a card from Carter, Logan gave me some bath salts and card and then I also got some flowers. Mark brought home some wine, steaks and a new camera! Can't wait to get out and take some pictures of the boys. I will be packing it with me everywhere.
For the long weekend coming up we are heading back to Creston. The plan is to help mom and dad with the new house. I mentioned before that I didn't mind painting.....I may eat my words by the end of the weekend. I should have booked my massage after the weekend! It will be good to get back. Haven't been since September.
Tonight we have another busy night, Carter has soccer and Logan has ball. We have to fit supper in there somewhere and I also have a client at the house. Mark has been great with getting the boys to where and when they need to be places. Would be lost with out him!
Hope you all have a great long weekend! If you know of anyone heading to Creston, tell them to look us up!

Mother's Day Tea with Carter

I was treated today to a Mother's Day Tea with Carter. The playschool he goes to puts on the tea. The kids serve their moms some treats, sings some songs and then gives us a 'gift'. I got a really nice card. I would like to share what it said.
(The colored words are what Carter added.)

My mommy is 3 years old.
She weighs 2 lbs. and is 1 feet tall.
Her hair is purple and her eyes are blue.
Her favorite color is green.
She loves to eat food.
Her job is to go for a walk.
Her favorite TV show is Mommy's shows and her favorite song is One Two Three Four.
Mommy always tells me I'm a good boy.
It makes her happy when I drive my monster truck.
When my mom shops, she loves to buy stuff.
If she could go on a trip, she would go to Ontario on a bus and she would take me.
I really love it when my mom grows trees.
She's the best! I love you mom!
Happy Mother's Day!

How cute is that?!? I remember Logan making a similar card......I need to find it. One of Carter's teachers told us a story about the cards. When it came to 'what is mommy's favorite TV show' the one kid answered, ' the one with the naked lady in it.' She said after she wiped the tears from her eyes, she wrote it down. Kids know everything!!

Carter's 1st Soccer Game

Carter has been waiting weeks to play soccer! We got a phone call from his coach last week and were told that he was going to be on the crocodile team. I just assumed that the uniform would be green......Carter was adamant that it was going to be blue. What do I know?!?

They were really cute to watch! Carter was the first one into a huddle when the coach called. I couldn't help but smile and feel very proud. My baby is growing up!
