It's Starting to Look a lot Like Christmas!!!

We were needing some help with some ideas as to what the boys were wanting 'Santa' to bring them, so we took them right to the source.
Now to go shopping!

I was having trouble getting into the decorating spirit around here since we plan on heading back to Creston this year. But I do like the outside decorated - maybe because Mark does all the work!! Take a look...

And it is that time of year again that Mark starts to sing the Hippopotamus song. Well, last year on boxing day I found this little beauty..........he got his wish!
Here is our tree.
I had planned to put more bows on it today, but when I got home from dropping the boys off at school this morning, Kia got a hold of them and ate them. I will need to be on the look out for more bows on boxing day.

While pulling out all the Christmas stuff, I forgot I picked up another small tree. I decided to put it up downstairs for my clients. Carter helped me decorate it yesterday as well. Looks pretty good!!

So, we are getting there. Christmas is only 19 days away and we have meetings, Christmas parties, hockey, family fun nights at the school, baking, crafting and a whole lot of wrapping still to get finished. I hope the holidays allow for a few naps!!

Our Little Star!

Logan had early hockey this weekend.......really hard on Mom & Dad!!
But, it's all worth it when the dude scores his first goal of the year!
Unfortunately his team lost 9-3......hopefully the next one is a win.

Halloween Spooktacular - 2010

Halloween again!! Comes quicker every year.
First off - here are the pumpkins that we carved - they 'kept' for us to carve Nana & Papa!
I labeled them so you know who did what.

The boys had the school Halloween dance on Thursday night. They always have a great time - Logan running around with this buddies and Carter, well Carter just danced........mostly by himself.

Logan before the dance
They both got pretty tired. I love how they 'propped' each other up for a picture.

Friday afternoon the boys then had their parties at school. The entire school goes into the gym and each class parades around showing off their costumes.
This is Carter giving 'High-fives' to the Grade 6's.
Back in their classrooms.

The boys each wanted to take some treats for the parties so this is what we made.
Bat cake for Carter and Butterscotch chip/M&M dipped apples for Logan.

And then finally tonight!!
The official costume reveal.
Buzz Light Year

Spooky Wizard

We had an extra boy out with us this year - A Flying Dragon - AKA Easton Ertmoed.
He was fun to have join in.

The boys took turns commenting/complimenting the neighbours on their pumpkins and decorations. They were at one house and Carter started giving a compliment before noticing that the old lady had no decorations OR pumpkins out. So the words that came out of his mouth went like this - "I really like.......the inside of your house!"
As we were walking away, Logan looks up at me and said, "Carter got double from that last lady for what he said!"
Check out the loot!

We hit all the same houses as last year - maybe a few less - and they got almost double the goodies. So now the kids are sound asleep and Mark and I are 'inspecting' the candy.
Happy Halloween - Boo!

Weekend projects.

We didn't think we had enough to do on the weekend with hockey, laundry and everything else we do to catch up for the week.......... we thought we would throw in some home renovations.
Take a look at what we did!
Before
After
Did you spot the difference?
Still have some touch-ups to do, but wow, what a change.

Flood - 2010

It seems like every five years, right around Carter's and Mom's birthday, something disastrous happens here in the Hat. These are some pictures of the flooding going on around the area.
This is looking out from the walking path in the coulee's.

This would be down on the flats.
Not sure where this is......stole the picture from the news.

A massive sink hole that took out the trans Canada highway leading into Saskatchewan.

Another picture of the highway. Hope no one needs to go to Saskatchewan!

I will post some pictures of the boys and all the visitors we have had soon.........

Seriously?!?

I enjoy camping........but this is just not fun!!
If I wasn't a 'fair weather' camper before, I sure am now!!

Eight inches of snow fell on Saturday.
This is the other side of the camp ground from us. Can't understand why they left?!?

We had to make it look like we had some fun!
(Which we did - the company was great!!)

Kia wasn't sure we were the smartest bunch. It was the first time she had to be tied up and couldn't understand why we only had this small tin house to hang out in.

Just hanging out in the trailer staying warm and dry.

Really hoping that when we go back in a couple weeks the snow has had a chance to melt and the ground dries up!
A warm shower and dry clothes never felt so good when we got home this morning. Better luck next year - crazy May long weekend!!

Do you Want to See Me in My New Dress, Daddy??

Those are the words, I'm sure, most Dads NEVER want to hear coming from their son!!
The boys had another Spirit Day on Friday at the school. The theme this time was 'Miss Match Clothes Day'. Carter came up with this one all on his own.......I just helped a bit. *wink*

He also told his teacher that he wanted to wear 'One of those things that cover boobies'. I had to draw the line somewhere. :-)
Logan didn't go as crazy as his brother.
He was sure to have two different colored socks on, crazy pants, shirt on backwards, hoodie on backwards and spiky green hair.
(He was also very concerned for his brother. He thought for sure that he was going to get beat up for wearing a dress.)

I really hope these two have as much 'School Spirit' in high school. Can just imagine what they will think up then!!

Fieldtrip!!

Today I went with Carter's Kindergarten class on a field trip to Police Point Park. Everything is all brown and crunchy.......waiting for more sun so it can all turn green! The kids first went for a short nature walk, listening to birds and looking for any sign of Spring. Carter was a bit confused and asked where the park was?!? (Had to explain that there was no 'playground' there!)
This was the view of the river.
Carter looking at some Lichen on the post.

Not sure why this picture decided to be sideways.......???
Carter was unable to sit on the floor (the reasoning has a story all to its own!!), so he sat up in a chair. He looked like the little ruler of his class.

Of course the highlight of the trip was to see the bunnies and the baby chicks.

Carter's class!

If you haven't spotted him, he is second from the right. Not sure why he is leaned over like that........

Bus pictures!
Carter and Quaid.

It was a nice day to have a walk through the park!
