Visiting in Lethbridge

Greg, Dawn and the girls were in Lethbridge on the weekend for a Highland dance competition so we thought we would take the drive down and see them. We made it just in time to watch Courtney do her final dance and then we waited with them for the results. Raya got a ribbon for participating and both Makenna and Courtney got second place in the sword dance. I wasn't sure what that was and I was a bit concerned. Turns out that they place two swords on the ground and they dance around them. Way to go girls!!

Makenna, Raya & Courtney
Carter was a little bored waiting, so he decided to take some pictures with my camera.

He got a pretty good one of Uncle Greg!

After the competition, we grabbed some take out and went back to the hotel and the kids went down to the pool and water slide. I was a bit shocked that the pool wasn't really little kid friendly and the water slide was REALLY fast! Mark said that his stomach dropped on the last corner every time.

I tried getting a picture of someone coming out of the slide and this is always what I got. Not even sure who this is!
Greg and Mark were soon in a competition themselves to see who could 'skip' across the pool the furthest. When Mark came out the one time, all you could see were legs! Fairly entertaining.

These two don't look like trouble at all!!
Logan could just barely touch after coming out of the slide. He had Mark, Greg and Courtney help him a number of times.
Carter wasn't interested at all in the water slide.
He preferred the hot tub.
Everyone played hard for over and hour!
Just before we left, Auntie Dawn got a little snuggle with Carter as he explained to her about a show on teletoon.
I really thought the boys would crash in the truck on the way home.......no such luck!
Thanks for the visit guys! Let us know when you're coming back this way.

Happy Mother's Day

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
I feel that being a mom is the hardest yet most rewarding job out there. I applied for the position voluntarily, the pay isn't that good and holidays are few and far between.
Carter's playschool puts on a Mother's Day tea every year. This was my fourth and final one. The kids get together and sing songs to the mom's and then they get them a treat and a drink. After snacking, the kids give their mom's a special gift. This year we got a very nice card. I always feel a little geeky when my eyes well up reading the card and listening to the singing. Another problem that has arose from being a mom - DAMN HORMONES!
Carter sang really loud! The one time that I don't videotape..........
My handsome little man.
This is the card Carter made for me.

Logan also made me a great card. He really wanted to give it to me on Friday as well. It took a lot of convincing to have him wait for today.

Logan also made a list for me again. You may want to grab a tissue.

I'm a very lucky mom!
Getting such things makes the job more enjoyable.

Logan's World

Sorry to let down my loyal subscribers by making you wait for a new post!
Logan has had a pretty exciting week. For a Spring sport he wanted to give Karate a try. The 'instructor' just happens to be the lady that runs the day home that the boys have been going to for six years. For the first couple of weeks I was taking Logan, but now that Carter has started ball, Mark and I each take a boy and go in different directions! I never knew this, but in Karate the kids learn what is called a "Cada". They get tested on it and I'm assuming this is how the instructors know when to 'graduate' them to the next color belt. Logan only has been going for about five weeks, and on Monday, Lisa asked who wanted to preform their Cada for her. Logan, being his cocky little self as of lately, put up his hand a said he would! So, near the end of class, she called him up. He jumped up and then realized what he just got himself into! The next class was starting soon, so the back of the room had filled up with more people. along with the parents of the kids in his class and all the kids in his class! He bowed to Lisa and then freaked out! The dude started crying and continued to while going through the movements of the Cada. I'm glad Mark took him that day because I'm sure I would have cried right along with him. I guess he did okay for only being there a short time.
One time when I took Logan, the class was pretty small due to the weather being a blizzard outside, so the kids got to 'suit up' and fight with the weapons. I did manage to snap a couple shots with my cell phone.

HIIYAHHHH!
Also this week, Logan was 'Star Student of the Week'.
This means that he gets to be the teachers assistant with things like the calendar, reading, being first in line and to share a show and tell item each day. He also had to write a small biography and take that to school. Here is the list of show and tell things he took for the week:
Monday - pictures of trailer & camping in Dickey Lake
Tuesday - pictures that he drew and a story he wrote
Wednesday - the two trophies that we has won (Pee Wee Stampede 2004 & Little league 2008)
Thursday - Hemi
Friday - magnets that he painted
Every morning around here, getting the kids ready for school is some times a bit of a yelling match. 'Get dressed! Get your bags packed! Wash your face!' This past week with Logan needing to take all these things to school, I never had to ask him once, he had everything packed and ready to go! Very exciting to be the Star Student of the Week.
Here are some pictures of Hemi going to school.
Logan enjoyed showing all the girls. Check out the smile on his face! (He just so happens be right in front of Chloe in the picture. The one to the left of the girl in pink.)
Hemi did pretty good. He loves getting attention.............and did he ever! There was fur everywhere.
To end his week, his good friend Ryan asked him to come over and play after school on Friday! Ahhhhhhhh, to be six years old again.
